Return to Cropredy

Had a short walk round Banbury and visited the statue of the lady on a white horse.

Unlike most nursery rhymes, there doesn't seem to be an underlying reason behind the rhyme. There are many suggestions as to what a cock horse may be, who the lady was but no-one really knows.

But here's a fine lady with rings on her fingers and trainers on her toes - how times have changed!

A cross opposite the statue. Not the original cross, that was taken down at some time, also, there were at least 3 crosses in Banbury.

I love the sign above this seat which invites you to sit here if you don't mind someone coming up and saying hello to you. (sponsored by Mental Health Awareness)

We set off and only travelled about 4 miles and worked 3 locks before arriving at Cropredy.

On the way, an unusual sight, a Curlew. Never seen one of them on the canal before. We also saw a Woodpecker and, forgot to mention it but, the other day we saw a Roe deer. It's amazing the wildlife that you witness from a narrowboat.
