According to the forecast we should have been experiencing gusts of wind between 20 & 30mph all through the day. We kept looking out of the window and asking ourselves 'are those trees moving about up there?' Perhaps we should have ignored the forecast and set off anyway.
Still, we stayed put all day, as planned, did some paperwork, cleaned some brasswork, read a bit, stoked up the fire and went for a short walk in the afternoon.
There we are, neatly moored on a quiet stretch of the canal.
And here we are looking back at the bridge from where we took the previous picture. And I can tell you that up on that bridge it was blowing a hoolie.
Wow! We only then appreciated how sheltered a mooring we had found for ourselves. The copse of trees opposite had taken all the force out of the wind, giving the allusion that there was no wind at all.
Because of all the rain the towpaths are very muddy so it was on with the wellies for our (very) short walk and then a scramble back on board into our cosy little world. Before that, have a look at the peggles (cowslips) along the edge of the path. These are only just coming out but at home they've been out for a month or so.
For our evening: fire alight, curtains closed, supper cooking on the stove, a good book to read and a dip into a little bit of telly - mind you, not much worth watching at the moment!
Tomorrow the forecast is a bit better so we will set off for Crick and see if we can get there before the rain comes in again.
