It's been a wet day all day today so we decided to stay put and potter about inside the boat.
For Christmas the captain gave me a ceramic Japanese Horuku roasting pan with green coffee beans.
The idea is that you put 30gm of green beans in the pan, waft the pan over the stove for around 9 mins during which time the beans crack and turn brown as they roast. Now comes the fun part. The handle of the pan is hollow and you blow through the handle to get rid of any husks. Having upset the captain and got husks all over the place I then stood in the front of the boat where they could all go in the canal. I just hoped that nobody was watching, they might have thought that I was smoking pot or something!
The captain, in the meantime, was doing some washing so I retired to the engine room to sort out a few bits and bobs, man's work, and top up the generator with diesel. I say 'man's work' but, with the door closed, I can play with all my man toys and pretend that I'm working.
While I was enjoying myself, the captain, having finished the washing, was cooking up a storm in the galley making a quiche.
Just let it cool a little and then we'll try some for our lunch.
The rain stopped for a bit in the afternoon but we decided not to move on but to stoke up the fire and see what tomorrow holds for us.
