Napton Locks

Yesterday I asked, where was summer? Today, it's found us.

An almost clear blue sky and really warm sun. Granted the wind's a bit nippy but not as cold as before.

Ah, there it is, the windmill on top of the hill at Napton. We always look out for that.

Here we are at the bottom lock just waiting for a boat ahead of us to go through. Very nice people but we were following them up the flight and they were following a boat with 4 men on board who really didn't know what they were doing. It was their first time on a narrowboat after all.

It took around 2.5 hours to get to Marston Doles at the top where we stopped to take on water. It was now way past lunch time but we pushed on a bit further to moor for the night near Priors Hardwick. Hopefully, in the morning, we will walk up there and have a look around.

But, before that, the landlocked narrowboat!

It's been there many years but this year there's a kennel block next to it. Couldn't see any residents in the kennels or on the boat but there was a whirligig full of washing. So it's home to someone.
