A sunny day

Boy, oh boy are we lucky. Woke up this morning (Tuesday) with the sun shining and some warmth in the air. Still a strong breeze but not so bitingly cold.

Back past Clattercote Wharf which looks so much better with a bit of sunshine.

And at Claydon Locks a helping hand from one of the volunteers.

When I said at the start that we were lucky, I didn't realise how much so. Talking to boaters following us up the flight, they were originally going the other way to us but Aynho Lock is closed because of the increased water levels on the river section. How easily we could have been stuck on the wrong side of the river waiting for the level to go down.

We decided to stop for lunch for a change.

And look at that, doors open at the front.

And at the back.

The first meal outside this holiday, good ol' Cornish pasties.

Even the duckies enjoyed a bit of the crust.

Now Brigid always laughs at me waving to passing trains but today it paid off. After we set off again I saw a freight train coming into view so, as usual, I waved and was greeted with a toot tooty toot toot from the driver. (First time it's ever happened though)

Stopped for the night near Wormleighton in the middle of nowhere. Fire alight later, just in case.
