So we decided to potter along about 3 1/2 miles to another very nice spot and see if the weather cleared at all. I'm glad we said potter because the first hire boat we were behind went slower and slower until they had to stop because something had gone wrong with the Morse cable that makes the boat go backwards and forwards. Then we followed another boat that was idling along enjoying everything around them. Well, that's what boating's all about. But, sometimes slow can be too slow! Also, when they met another boat coming towards them, they would go into reverse, something you should never do because you lose all control and direction. But, they were holidaymakers and just trying not to hit anyone.
One boat they/we passed was being steered by a lady with child strapped on her back. Wow - I find it hard enough steering by myself, let alone with a child in tow.
Now then, how about this for a glamping break? Outside bath with a grand view of the canal.
Or this?
I'm sure someone has found a loophole somewhere because there is a narrowboat afloat in the middle of a field with no connection to the canal. What do you make of that?
Couldn't bear to take a picture of what once was a farmers field, now a building site for HS2. What a waste.
Moored up in time for a bit more rain. So, several jobs inside this afternoon. Cleaning brasswork, making quiche, sorting out electrics, topping up the stern gland greaser, etc.
Tomorrow's forecast looks much better - watch this space!
