Painting day part 2

Too lovely a day to be painting but, we did it nevertheless.

Here’s Picasso dabbing away with his paintbrush, covering as much of the black stuff as possible. This is just an undercoat so not too fussed about how it looks.

Look at that, more grey than black - got to be good.

Even painted the hatch cover.

While I was painting, Brigid was busy polishing the side of the boat. Look at that reflection.

This was all followed by lunch of the quiche that the captain made yesterday. First class, I can tell you.

Not sure what happened after that but we decided to go for a walk. Something I don't usually volunteer for.

So, back along the canal and over a bridge on the path to Wormleighton.

Blimey, we've just walked up this track. A good job the sun wasn't out otherwise we'd have been cream crackered.

And this is Wormleighton, a small hamlet of old houses.

Wikipedia says that this is Wormleighton Manor but we wondered if it weren't the gatehouse to the manor behind.

Anyway, off we go again.

Past this quiet, secluded pool.

Followed by a touch of Julie Andrews.

"I go to the hills" Actually, we're walking across all that remains of the medieval Wormleighton Village, which was abandoned after the Civil War.

I'll be honest, both the captain and I had problems with this style of stile. Our legs, and most definitely our bodies, are not made that shape!

And then we were accompanied by some very friendly cows or calves - didn't look too closely, just ducked quickly through the gate.

All in all, just under 5 miles in 2 hours. Back in time for a cuppa and the last of the homemade biscuits. Bliss!

And we'll leave you with the view from our window. Who wants to go abroad when you've got scenery like this?
