Where have we got to?

Quite right, we didn't go too far after the pint of Old Hookey. We went another 3 1/2 miles and stopped near Flecknoe. A lovely isolated mooring with good views all round.

No, this isn't Flecknoe, it's the windmill on the hill at Napton.

Passed a couple of work boats, tug & butty. Many more of these around these days, some as historic work boats, others as hotel boats.

A nice clean field full of bales ready for stacking.

And the view from our mooring at Flecknoe. Doesn't do it justice really, it's almost 180 degrees views like that.

We stayed put all day Friday because of the weather. Rain on and off all day.

Managed to strip down and oil one of the windows, Brigid did some cooking, started to go for a walk but the rain got the better of us, so played gin rummy instead.

Saturday, set off towards Braunston, the decision having been made to go towards Coventry for a bit of lock free cruising.

Pulled in to Braunston Marina to top up with diesel and get rid of the recycling.

Then off up the Oxford canal looking across to Braunston Church, fondly known as the "Cathedral of the Canals".

You should be able to see the medieval ridge and furrow patterns in the fields. It's amazing that modern farming methods haven't got rid of these long ridges down the fields after all the years.

Have now stopped just before Hillmorton locks, hoping to go to church tomorrow morning. That'll be good.
