Back through the tunnel

Set off fairly late this morning after showering, having breakfast and sorting things out in the boat.

Stopped briefly at Cropredy to get some bread, mushrooms and other odds and ends, then made our way along and through the Claydon locks.

A nice new beam on the lock that was broken on our way out.

At the top lock it's good to see that the cottage is having some work done to it. It looked a tad unloved before.

Each bridge and lock has a number on it.

On the map, bridge 143 is Hey bridge. When you're pottering along slowly it's easy to lose track of where you are but the numbering system helps keep you on track.

Here we are again, Fenny Compton Tunnel. But this time they're putting in new pilings.

You can just about see the support ties that will stop the outer edge collapsing into the canal.

Have stopped at Fenny Compton Wharf and just had a super meal in the Wharf Inn. The menu looks fairly standard but the pies are homemade and full of meat. Excellent.
