Bye, bye K&A

Another glorious day today and our last on the Kennet & Avon.

A day mixed with clouds and sunshine. We had a minor problem casting off this morning insofar as the captain's legs aren't long enough for her to step from the shore onto the boat. No, she couldn't use the gangplank because it had to be stowed before we left. Why? Well the river was flowing quite fast where we were and I didn't fancy juggling with a plank while trying to keep the boat under control.

Anyway, problem solved, it was only a short distance to the next swing bridge so I set off one way and she set off the other.

At one of the locks we passed this C&RT work boat which has been provided for volunteers to use.

Now passing under the M4 and this time I managed to get a lorry in the picture.

We needed a break for lunch so we stopped at the Cunning Man, a Vintage Inn. And very good it was too.

Coming back into Reading past the construction work on the outskirts.

Now in the centre of Reading with a beach on our left.

And a beach bar on our right.

Approaching the final bridge that marks the end of the one way system.

The old Huntley & Palmer building.

And finally, our neat and tidy mooring for the night.

Right outside Tesco.

A perfect day and a perfect sunset.
