There's a bright golden haze

There's only one person I know who is regularly up at 5:30 in the morning and that is Lesley, and I can understand why.

If you could guarantee every morning being like this, then I would be awake to witness the joy of the day.

Even the chap on the boat next to us was singing about being a lonesome traveller - actually quite a pleasant baritone and not too loud for the time of day.

Some tasteful graffiti on the side of the sanitary station at Aldermaston.

The graffiti might have been tasteful but the facilities weren't! All barred and locked up. I could reach through the bars and open the inner door and admire the toilets but that's as far as I could go. Had to wait until we got to Tyle Mill Lock and use the facilities there.

You get all sorts on the canals and rivers. Traditional narrowboats.

And lifeboats.

At the end of a fairly long day we are moored in the reeds again below Tyle Mill Swing Bridge.

A serious mooring like this needs a serious gangplank. So glad we've got one!
