Wednesday saw us travelling just 5 miles to Silsden. But, in that 5 miles there were 7 swing bridges. Some moved easily whilst others hardly moved at all. The one I liked best was where you just turned a key and barriers came down and the bridge opened automatically. Not many of those around though. With one bridge that wouldn't budge at all, a lady walked her dog across to help out and, as she tipped the balance of the bridge, it swung closed easily.
Some more lovely conversions along the canal side.
In Silsden more converted mills.
After mooring we decided to walk back and look round Silsden. So, as usual, we set off in the opposite direction!
We then headed toward the hills that surround the town.
We climbed above the town and enjoyed the views.
Quite a few styles to tackle on our way.
The natives are very friendly!
Look at the dry stone walls.
At last, the centre of Silsden where there is a statue in memory of the nail making industry.
Back to the boat and time for a nice cuppa.
