Wednesday saw us returning along the Peak Forest back to Marple Junction.
Views across the Goyt Valley.
The captain looks happy to have put the washing behind her.
This was meant to be a photo for Brian & Brenda but just as I was getting ready to take it, would you believe it but a boat coming the other way, shallow canal, boat running aground, so a quick hand in the air, point and click and see what you get. Just the roof of the house where Jonathan & Julie used to live.
Here we are approaching Marple Junction.
Through the bridge onto the Macclesfield Canal.
Looking through the archway of one of the 'snake' bridges.
The bridge is such that the horse towing the boat walks up one side, the bridge then snakes round so that the horse comes down the opposite side without having the towrope detached. It was important that the towpath changed sides frequently to ensure that the horses didn't develop sores.
Here we are approaching Goyt Mill.
For the night we stopped at High Lane where we found a lovely micro chocolate factory.
