I mentioned yesterday the fantastic views where we are moored.
I know, a tad overcast but still, quite a panoramic view.
It was fairly cold first thing, so, on with the generator, on with the blower heater and then, warm as toast. Until the heater went off!
Trot to the back of the boat to find that the genny had stopped working! Grrrr. But, not too worried as yesterday we happened to have bought a small standby Kipor genny. We got it as a quieter alternative to the diesel genny and that can be useful late at night if the batteries get low - you don't wake up all the neighbours. The only problem was that we needed to get some petrol to run it. Good old Google Maps told me that there was a service station near the canal at Napton-on-the-Hill, so off we set chugging along through some of the heaviest rain that we have had all week. The one consolation being that the garage, when we got to it, was right opposite the King's Head. Only polite to try the beer and see what the lunch was like. Marvellous (to both).
Back to the boat, fill the Kipor and all's well. Yippee.
The beer must have been good because I then crawled around under the back of the boat, took the genny to bits and discovered that the capacitor had blown. Replacement should cost about £7.00, as long as I can find somewhere to get one. Hopefully that's saved us £60 in engineer's fees - watch this space!
Staying put here for the night, worn out after all the hard work.
Oh, another benefit of stopping for the afternoon, Brigid set to and made a quiche. Yummy!
