Luckily the building site didn't start to really get going until 8 o'clock this morning. Last night we moved the boat across the canal because some lads decided it would be fun to cast us adrift. The other side is much quieter and a peaceful night ensued. (I do love predictive text, it gets all the big words spelled correctly)
10 o'clock and along to Tooley's to collect the spare part for the genny. Then back to the boat via Hotter shoes where Brigid spent oodles of dosh. But, as they say, she's worth it!
Passing Tooley's - they are hoping to replace this ghastly exterior with a wooden structure more in keeping with a scheduled ancient monument.
Here's the captain raising the lift bridge in the town centre.
Now operating the lock, also in the centre of the town. Plenty of passers-by to pick up on all our mistakes.
2 years ago we were told about a new development and here it is taking shape.
Stopped at the Pig Place for lunch, also to stock up with meat and veg.
Lovely doorstep sandwiches out in the open.
There's even Trotters Bar in the grounds.
Some of the resident pigs.
And their faithful old Austin van.
It really is a lovely place and there is caravanning and camping available as well as overnight mooring.
Soon after we set off the rain set in. We are stopping for the night at Aynho Wharf. If it rains tomorrow as forecast then at least there is a nice pub to retreat into.
Nearly forgot the whole point of the blog - made good use of stopping early by fitting the spare part on the generator and, believe it or not, it all works again. Phew, just think what I could have achieved in life if I'd known what I was doing! Believe me, ignorance is bliss.
