Before Preston Brook Tunnel there is a stop lock of about 3in. Some first-timers coming through the tunnel asked Brigid if she would shop them how to work the lock - which she did. We think that the boat following thought that she would work the lock for them - no such luck! We needed to set off through the tunnel ourselves so that we didn't miss our one way slot.
After the tunnel we started on the Bridgewater Canal.
A new development reflecting the style of a warehouse on the waters edge.
This is one of the hire boat centres, very attractive with the old crane on the dock.
We have passed through some lovely country, also some built up areas. Moore, Higher Walton, Stockton Heath and Grappenhall, where we have moored for the night.
The old village has cobbled streets and fine buildings around the church of St Wilfred, where the village stocks remain.
A view of the cobbles - sorry about the cones but repairs are underway.
In the afternoon we managed to watch the celebration down The Mall for the Queen's 90th birthday.
Settling in for the evening with roast chicken for supper.
Saw your boat as I passed along the canal at Lymm on Saturday, great name. Did you know there is a Facebook page dedicated to the works of Mr. Eddings? You're a bit famous on there now.
