In the morning I topped up the generator's fuel tank and emptied the excess water out of the bilges. Neither of these were urgent jobs but it was something that needed doing at some time and it was a pleasant morning.
After that having been done we set off to tackle the 7 Johnson's Hill Locks.
Once again there were no other boats on the cut so we had to tackle the locks on our own.
Here's the worm gear that is used to raise the ground paddles.
After completing 4 of the locks we were helped through by a man who was getting ready to set the locks for a canal cruise boat that needed to come through the 2 top locks before turning round and going back to base. His aim was to get us out of the way as quickly as possible - and, of course, we didn't argue!
At the top the weather looked as if it was going to take a turn for the worse. Luckily we managed to get a mooring near The Top Lock pub which we then visited for lunch.
Being Father's Day, the pub was quite crowded but we managed to find a table for 2. Our downfall was that Brigid had a half of Pheasant Plucker cider and I had a pint of Wobbly Bob. When we tottered out of the pub it was raining quite hard but we didn't really notice because we were snoozing back on board. The rain set in and so did we.
