A rainy day

We stayed on our mooring this morning because of the rain, not heavy rain like some parts of the county, just constant drizzle.

Our journey today has taken us through Thelwall, Lymm, Oughtrington, Little Bollington and we have now moored at Dunham Town.

We stopped off at Lymm for some lunch and a bit more shopping. Lymm is an attractive little town with many old pubs and eating places. At the back of the town was a lake which was formed when a dam was built to carry the turnpike over a sharp ravine. To one side was a display case for a dinosaur's footprint. Because of all the water on the glass lid it was difficult to make out the details clearly!

We had our lunch in Sextons Village Bakery and it was excellent, a homemade beef casserole. The bread that accompanied it was scrummy!

Here we are setting off again whilst it's not raining.

A lovely house right by the town bridge.

Further along the canal we loved these old warehouses built right into the water's edge.

When we stopped for the night the local swans approached to show off their family.

All three of them - and to ask to be fed, of course.
