Sydney Opera House, here we come!

Saturday 19th. A very, very early start for us to catch our 7:30 am flight to Sydney. Here is our last look at New Zealand.

Arrived safely in Sydney and picked up our transport at the airport.

Now, for the next four nights we are at Glenferrie Lodge, a budget hotel in Kirribilli, the opposite side of the harbour to the Sydney Opera House.

The photo above was taken at about 1 pm. BUT we crossed a couple of timelines on our flight, so our body clocks think it's 3 pm. Our day in Australia has an extra two hours in it. So, with a full afternoon ahead of us we set off to walk around Kirribilli and found a small restaurant for a light lunch.

After that we set off down to the harbour.

We then walked along the waterfront stopping to watch the boats charging round the harbour and a number of brides having their photos taken with this iconic background.

Speaking of which ...

Perhaps I should take up being a photographer in Sydney!?

Shame the groom didn't appear!

Here's one of the ferries that we see crisscrossing the harbour.

On our walk along the foreshore we passed Luna Park, a funfair opened in October 1935 and now a heritage site. Some of the amusements were charmingly old but others a bit more modern.

It was Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. We walked around for a little longer but then returned to the hotel to catch up on a little lost sleep.

Whoo hoo! Booked up to go to the Sydney Opera House to see La Boheme on Monday night.

Might even change out of my shorts for that!
