Here's one of the period houses we found on our way to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Note the ship in full sail. Top left is the navy dockyard.
The white block of flats by the seashore is in fact a cruise ship moored at Circular Quay. (It's just off the right side of the picture - enlarge picture to see it).
And here is the bridge itself.
It's quite amazing in that it has a pedestrian walkway, six lanes for traffic and two railway tracks.
Our first view from the bridge.
Although overcast the day is very pleasant, just the day for walking around town. When we reached the quay we found not only the cruise ship but also an open air event 'Celebrating Children 2016' with, as you would expect, plenty of activities for children.
Most strange to hear 'Scotland the brave' being played when in Australia - but the dancing was good.
The quay was alive with tourists, street artists, children and parents and there was a real buzz in the air.
We made our way to the Opera House to collect our tickets for tomorrow night.
No, not the block of flats in the background, ours was a bit more modest than that!
And the Opera House.
A look at one of the other ferries on the harbour. This one I call a pushme-pullme as it has a bow at both ends. This means that it doesn't take time turning round before settling off on its next trip.
Here is the sea view that we nearly get from our room. Well, nowhere near actually - the block of flats gets totally in the way.
4:00pm sitting on the bed watching the Grand Prix live from Melbourne. Much better coverage than in the UK and live!
Weather all right in Melbourne but tipping it down here. Managed to sneak out at 8pm for a Thai supper without drowning. Brigid is getting used to slightly spicy food which is great for me!
