Saturday 15th September. Filled up with water,
emptied out all the rubbish and set off again. Weather much better today and
the wind had dropped considerably.
Around the basin are remnants of the old
lime kilns
and the wharfinger’s house.
We also had to exit through a narrow
section where the boats were gauged to calculate how much lime they had taken
on board.
As we travelled along the weather improved, the sun came out and we
were stripping off fleeces and woollies in an effort to cool down. Good old
British weather! Stopped at Jonathan and Julie’s again and treated Julie to a
cup of tea basking in the sun on the towpath. Could have sold numerous cuppa’s
to cyclists and walkers. As noted before, the views around here are glorious.
Took
a couple of pictures of Goyt Mill, now a business centre.
Stopped at Higher
Poynton for the night with a promise of a pub supper.
