Return to Great Haywood

Sunday 11th June.

Once again a hot day and a gentle cruise along to Great Haywood.

On the way we passed this boat mooring and caravan site complete with a gypsy caravan. Wonder if it's for hire or just for private use.

The captain's turn on the locks but on most there were people to help out.

Not too much excitement on our journey, except for meeting a hire boat at a bridge hole. That's always exciting (if you like that sort of thing).

The above picture is of us passing the entrance to Great Haywood Marina.

And back at the junction where we topped up the fuel and took on another bottle of gas. We filled up here on 7th May and that has lasted us for our round trip to date. Not bad really.

It's so hot that we popped into the Canalside café for a light lunch in an air-conditioned room. Lovely!

It was quite busy although I took this picture when there weren't too many people in my direct line of sight.

During the afternoon a fighter jet flew low overhead followed shortly after by a Lancaster bomber. Possibly an airshow nearby?

Roast chicken tonight followed by rhubarb crumble. 😋

But, before that, we had a visit from a whole gang of geese and goslings.

And then, just as we were dishing up supper, about half an hour of rain and thunder with the occasional flash of lightning. It's amazing how you can have such a hot, dry day and then a whole shedfull of rain. How does it do that? (Rhetorical question, please do not answer.)
