Gone fishing

Here's the pub last night.

But, this morning, pub and canal wreathed in mist.

I'd forgotten how low some of the bridges are.

A bit of a surprise, I'm driving again.

The forecast said rain but, at the moment, lovely sunshine.

Now for a few pastoral views.

Right, that's enough of that. Onwards and upwards.

Kingswood Junction on a Saturday and it's empty. Normally there are boats left right and centre. Where is everyone?

So, we've swopped over and I'm now working the locks. There was a slight delay at the first lock because a team of volunteers were painting the gates. And, guess what, I got 2 volunteer lockies coming up to help set the locks with me. The captain wasn't too happy with that but it knocked about an hour off the total transit time.

That's quite a rush of water going into the lock.

Our first lift bridge. There are 2 along this stretch of the canal, both hydraulically operated. You just have to keep winding and winding and winding. Both up and down.

Moored at Hockley Heath for the night and a quick visit to the Co-op.

What we didn't know was that next door to the Co-op was Nelsons Fish and chips. Guess what we had for supper.
