The good news is that the batteries held up well overnight and are still stowing 12.1 volts this morning. The old ones were quite often down to 10.7 so, a great improvement overall.
There came a lull in the rain so we decided to set off. The above is the Moat House at Acton Trussell and the only reason for taking the photo is because on our first ever trip on Polgara we stopped here late at night believing that it was a pub and that we could get supper. We went across in our boating gear to find a wedding reception in progress. Our canal guide was a little out of date! Probably went back to the boat for tinned steak pie and potatoes.
And she wonders why people run away from her. All she needs is a scythe and an hourglass and she'd be ready for Halloween.
We've developed a new method for the locks. Brigid gets the gates ready, I set the boat moving forward, nip up the steps in time to close the gates as Polgara goes through. Wait until the boat nudges the top gates, open the paddles slowly and away we go. Simples!
Decided that we were wet enough and cold enough for lunch in the pub.
New Jersey chicken for me.
Chicken Tikka Masala for the captain. Very good portions at a very good price.
Got back to the boat at about 4 o'clock and it started to tip it down so we decided that we would light the fire and stay here overnight. Not necessarily our mooring of choice but if we were to go on it would only bring us closer to the M6, better to stay where we are.
Wow, twenty past eight and the sun's come out.
10 minutes later and there's a rainbow.
Just don't ask what next!
And now it's raining again!
