Woke at about half past six by a boat chugging along quite quietly until they ran aground and then it was screaming engine backwards and forwards as they tried to free themselves. Managed to get back to sleep and this was the view at ten to eight when we finally surfaced.
And the autumn colours highlighted by the early morning sun.
Eggs and bacon today to celebrate the fact that not only is it a great day but there is no wind. It all feels quite pleasant.
It was so gorgeous that we bimbled along at about 3 miles per hour, quite slow really. We stopped off at Yelvertoft to take on water.
And then sailed past Cracks Hill, a curious treetop mound, so the book says.
We arrived at Crick in time to walk up to the village for a late lunch.
Not sure where the traffic is meant to go next! Don't worry, the old road has been turned into a footpath but all the old markings are still there.
Popped along to Pie and Pickle at 23 but lunch service finished at 2:30. Never mind, they dished up a tasty quiche and salad with tea for the captain and a flat white for me.
Just to confirm, that is my happy face.
And, for the fans of my pictures of food, a closeup. Looks good, doesn't it.
We've moored just away from the visitors' moorings to catch the last of the afternoon sun. This is what boating's all about.
