If yesterday was a perfect day, then this morning was a perfect morning.
Look at the view as we sit up in bed. (And to think that the view changes every day.)
It was quite early (for us) but we had to jump up to look at the early morning shadows across the hillside opposite.
Even the swans took advantage of our insomnia and blagged some breakfast from us.
We set off again in bright sun but after we had been through Husbands Bosworth Tunnel the clouds started building up.
Here we are at North Kilworth Wharf and the blue sky is gradually disappearing.
Until, by the time we got to the Welford Arm, it was wall to wall cloud with a stiff breeze.
The captain braving the wind and piloting the boat into Welford lock.
A look of concentrated confidence.
And, in the distance, you can see us moored on the side of the canal opposite the marina.
We popped out to visit a lovely little tearoom next to the pub but, it's no longer there. I googled the name and it came up as being in Spain. A tad too far for us to go on this trip.
Still, roast chicken tonight. That'll make up for it.
And the 'back to our roots' reference? Ah, well, the first holiday we had on a hireboat was in 1975 and we started from Welford. Happy days.
