4th October, a day of rest after all the locks yesterday.
Harvey and Helen came to pick us up to take us to Foxton locks for lunch. Now Harvey uses a good old-fashioned map to navigate his way around but, clever clogs me whips out his phone and says 'turn left here, Google has a shorter route.' We went along a single track road around the edge of a reservoir, up hill and down dale, back to a proper road with a notice ROAD CLOSED. Managed to blag my way around that one and, eventually, we arrived at the top of the locks.
On the walk down to the bottom of the flight there are bronze reminders of times past.
Straight into the Foxton Locks Inn for lunch and a good old natter.
On the way back to the car we sang Happy Birthday to an 8 year old girl and her mother was so impressed with our singing (think I just made that bit up) that she took a photo of us.
Back to the boat for tea and coffee. I left Harvey to use his map, it seemed the safer option. After they'd been waved off, generator on to top up the batteries. And that's it. A fairly quiet and easy day for us.
Oh, and the Foxton made easy title? Well, we just walked up and down the flight and became gongoozlers for the day. It's lovely pointing out what everyone else is doing wrong when you're not actually the one on the doing end of it all.
