The windmill at Napton is always a welcome sight. One day we are going to walk up there and have a look around.
We're wondering if some trees have been cut down since we don't remember seeing the windmill so clearly.
We cleared the first lock and moored so that we could go shopping. The wind had certainly got up overnight and it was a battle to get the boat secured. But we did it and walked up the hill to the local shop. They stock a wide variety of goods and we managed to get everything we needed together with a treacle tart and homemade pork pie. We also had a snack lunch of quiche, again homemade. Back to the boat and on through the locks, admiring the new board celebrating 250 years of the Oxford Canal.
I always look out for the Water Buffalo. They make me smile because I recall a person asking for Bull's milk when I was House Manager at Pleshey Retreat House. I hope she meant Buffalo milk as I didn't know who I could ask to go and milk a bull! 🐂
We stopped for the night at Priors Hardwick bridge and, just before the sun set, a band of sunlight across the field opposite.
