A sunny day

6th September, my birthday 🥳🎂

A fine day, according to the forecast and a fine day it was. We set off past Sutton Wharf which, even though a Friday morning, was packed with people enjoying the sunshine.

We motored down past Stoke Golding, home of all the Ashby hire boats.

You can see them all being turned round ready for their next crews to take them out.

A then, a half mile further on, we stopped at the farm shop, just as we promised ourselves we would do when we passed by on the way up. Stocked up with chops, steaks, a joint for Sunday, bacon, veg., milk, etc.

Sailing along and the sun's still out.

Not a sight we've seen this holiday, the sun sparkling on the water. The only problem is ...

Even the captain found it off-putting, sun dead ahead, hat in need of adjustment. Not that we're complaining, far from it.

And so we stopped at Burton Hastings again and had a birthday tea with some cherry and walnut cake, also from the farm shop.

The sun shines on the righteous. Mmmm just look at that cake.

And now a glorious ending to a perfect day.
