Branston anyone?

Wednesday morning and another walk round Alrewas to look at the artwork and pay a visit to the butchers.

But first, a look at our mooring.

Some of the decorated planks on the 'plank trail'.

Down at the village green.

Even the road names got decorated.

We then popped into the church for a cuppa.

They have a lovely reredos behind the altar.

We then set off, through the first lock and past what is called 'Alrewas pier'. Really just a raised walkway along the river section of the canal.

A look back at Wynchnor church.

A little further on we stopped at Barton Turn to take on water. Had a long chat with a couple viewing a house nearby who wanted to find out about narrowboating.

And then, this little narrow bridge which always catches me out.

But not this time! Straight through without touching the sides.

It's only just wide enough for the boat and you have to approach just at the right angle.

Just before Tattenhill Lock the Marley works where they make all the roof tiles.

Approaching Tattenhill Lock with its attractive lock cottage and traditional narrowboat moored alongside.

Into the lock itself.

We moored at Branston Bridge without getting ourselves into a pickle! And made the most of the evening sun.
